(3) Units 600 RPM 19,000 LBS each

Precision Coil and Rotor was awarded a contract in to repair and rebuild three squirrel cage rotors for electric motors in FD combustion fans for fired steam generators in two large fossil power plants in June 2014.

The rotors were 54-inch diameter with copper alloy construction in 600rpm GE machines specially built for boiler combustion air.  Environmental, heat  and mechanical stresses caused cracking in the cage bars and short circuit rings on the rotors.  Continued operation in this condition increased risk for unplanned outage and possible catastrophic failure.  Precision performed labor and materials to fabricate new cage bars, shorting rings and laminated dovetail rotor core for one of the machines.  Rings are bars were repaired or replaced on the other two machines.  The project was completed on schedule and the fan motors were installed and available for peak production in time for summer.
